April 22, 2014: Retirement of S-Plus/Tibco Spotfire

After several years of low usage, the UVa Site-License Committee has decided not to renew the S-Plus site license, and on or about August 18, 2014, S-Plus will be removed from the classroom build, the Hive and the /common directory.

The open-source package “R” has nearly identical functionality to S-Plus, and most S-Plus users will not have trouble or experience downtime when they make the switch. The Research Data Services group in the Library can provide assistance as needed.

Additionally, users can obtain free one-year individual licenses from the OnTheHub store:  http://onthehub.com/download/free-software/
